Join Our Team

Do you have a passion for service and for the outdoors? Then consider volunteering with Sheridan Area Search and Rescue.

We offer all the training and skills you need to become a member of our team. From monthly training to technical ropes rescue, you can take your training as far as you want to go.

Our new members are required to attend our four-week onboarding training program in April and May which consists of Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. During that time, new members must complete an annual physical fitness test. The physical fitness test requires that all members complete a four-mile hike in one hour and 35 minutes wearing a 25-pound pack

In addition to new member training, Sheridan Area Search and Rescue hosts monthly training events. These trainings are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays and are split between classroom work and field exercises. All members must attend at least three classroom trainings and three field exercises annually.

Please note that all new members are probationary for one year.

To apply, you’ll need to complete both an application and a skills inventory. You must take your application to the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department so they can perform a background check. Please email all completed skills inventory forms to sasartraining@gmail.com.
